COMMUNITIES IN BLOOM

The sign speaks for itself!

A HUGE success in 2007, the City of Pickering aims for a repeat in 2008

The City of Pickering kicked off our 2008 Communities in Bloom competition on April 18 at Vaughan Willard Public School, winners of the 2007 School Garden Competition.

Last year, we were awarded Five Blooms and also earned the Environmental Awareness Award in recognition of our work in sustainability.  Ours was among just a few municipalities that earned the most prestigious rating in its first-ever campaign.

Our success was due, in large part, to the enthusiastic support we received from our business and residential communities, along with our valued sponsors.  We encourage you to participate in any of a number of ways, such as: landscape and plant flowers outside your business, keep your property tidy, engage employees and volunteer in one of the many community programs, or sign up to plant a tree.

As a participating business, you will receive an attractive window decal that showcases your support and helps promote this worthwhile competition.  Topping last year's success is a big challenge, but together we can further beautify spaces and enhance our quality of life.  To learn more about how you can participate and register, visit www.sustainablepickering.com and click on Communities in Bloom.
