About Doug

Your Neighbour. Doug & Jo-Ann live in Maple Ridge and participate in many aspects of community life in Pickering. Doug has been actively involved in Ward 2 since opening his business, Carpet Corral, (1972) in the heart of the Ward. Following the Ward by-election in 2004, Doug sold the business and now devotes himself full-time to representing you.

Committed: Doug is committed to the needs of Ward 2. He is a tireless worker who is noted for getting things done. His hallmark is his open door policy. And he means it. Doug’s office door is always open. He is on the job full time.  

Passionate: “I am passionate in my belief that our united communities make our City a stronger place, a great place to call home. As your City Councillor I will continue to work with you so that we may mutually realize our City’s great potential and move together towards a tomorrow filled with promise .”

Seaton Advisory Committee - Member
The Seaton Advisory Committee provides advice to Council and staff with respect to the planning and development of Seaton.

Waterfront Coordinating Committee - Co-Chair
The Waterfront Coordinating Committee provides a forum for ongoing discussion amongst the various groups, agencies, interests and individuals involved in projects and initiatives along the waterfront, to help coordinate the implementation of approved waterfront projects, to provide technical advice and assistance on waterfront issues, to provide assistance in waterfront funding sources and fundraising efforts.

Planning & Development Committee - Member
All new development and re-development which occur within Pickering must first have P&D approval following public consultation. Recommendations are then forwarded to Council for decision.

Site Plan Committee - Chair
Following Council's approval, the application then is reviewed for items such as "greening" and sustainability, resident & visitor parking, waste treatment, visual effect, entry & egress onto fronting roads, landscaping and building materials.
 

Veridian Corporation - Board of Directors

  • Veridian Corporation wholly owns Veridian Connections Inc. and Veridian Energy Inc. Together, they provide comprehensive energy services in the communities where they operate.  Governance Committee Member.

  • Founding Chair of Business Development Committee - purpose is to expand Veridian's renewable energy assets; ie: solar, district energy, wind, geothermal.
